Spring/Summer 2021 Bridal Trends: discover the Latest Styles and Designs for Your Dream Wedding Dress
Wide choice for the spring/summer 2021 bride:
mini dress, chic and versatile; slip-dress very light and extremely feminine petticoat dresses; princess dresses, with bodice and wide skirt, for a sophisticated and timeless style; mermaid models minimal or boho style; pantsuits and tailored suits, ideal to combine elegance and practicality.
Short Dresses for the Ceremony
This year, as small civil ceremonies replaced big events, minis, midis, and ankle-lengths dresses are considered appropriate for the ceremony.
A short, white dress is also perfect for all other wedding-related events like the rehearsal dinner or bridal shower.
In the Max Mara Bridal spring 2021 collection we saw a bustier dress made of heavy cady, with a sweetheart neckline and a short skirt with a wrap line.
At the Viktor&Rolf spring 2021 bridal show, inspired by the floral world, there were short dresses richly decorated with allover beads.
At Oscar de la Renta a sensual mini dress stood out, enriched with three-dimensional tone-on-tone flowers, perfect for a modern and jaunty bride.
Nicole Milano also proposed an elegant sleeveless chiffon mini dress with illusion effect back and buttons.
Slip-dress
For spring 2021, the petticoat is revisited for the wedding dress. The petticoat model is ideal for those who dream of a simple and comfortable dress that glides gently over the silhouette without constriction.
Savannah Miller proposed a refined slip-dress in matte silk crepe with a delicate cowl neckline and micro straps.
At Theia, we saw an elegant ivory crepe slip-dress with thin straps and a wide back neckline.
Also in Galvan‘s spring 2021 bridal collection was a refined simple, yet classy slip-dress.
Abiti principeschi
Princess cut dresses are a classic for weddings and encapsulate a timeless magic: the bodice and wide skirt make the outfit sophisticated and timeless.
For spring 2021 the princess model looks seductive and elegant with refined details.
Rosa Clarà presented dreamy dresses with princely skirts characterized by cascades of tulle and bodices decorated with lace and rhinestones.
Nicole Milano for the SS2021 collection proposed many princely gowns including an embroidered tulle dress with long lace sleeves and bare shoulders and a pink tulle princess wedding dress with a humeral neckline and lace embroidery.
In Justin Alexander Signature‘s spring 2021 bridal collection, we saw an enchanting bright tulle wedding dress with a deep V-neckline, back neckline and beaded lace appliqués. The wide skirt and cathedral train made this princess gown perfect for brides who dream of a fairytale.
Also at Monique Lhuillier there were fairytale gowns embellished with bright embroidery, traditional lace, delicate floral details and regal proportions.
Siren Models
The mermaid dress represents a great must perfect to emphasize the figure and the sensuality of the bride: it is a dress to be worn tight, like a second skin.
At Amsale we saw a beautiful mermaid dress with a minimal line; at Oscar de la Renta a mermaid silk dress with a geometric sweetheart neckline and high waist band; at Ines di Santo a mermaid dress with an American neckline.
In Rosa Clará‘s spring 2021 bridal collection, mermaid-style wedding dresses were the most seductive models, thanks to lace bodices, crepe skirts with suggestive slits, rhinestone applications on the back that created a magical jewel effect and incredible tattoo laces with delicate shimmers.
Pant suit
For brides who love to dare among the proposals for spring 2021 there were many pantsuits and tailored suits, ideal for combining elegance and practicality.
This is the perfect choice for a contemporary and elegant bride, who rides the most cutting-edge trends. The use of blazers with feminine lines, V-necklines and accessories contribute to make the bridal look refined and versatile.
The proposals range from palazzo or cigarette pants to be worn with medium-long jackets to jumpsuits, adorned with removable and asymmetrical skirts that replace the train.
Galvan proposed a trouser jumpsuit with a waist band; the same choice was made by Valentini Spose where the jumpsuit was worn with a long dress.
At Max Mara we admired a refined jumpsuit with a fluid line in shiny enver satin crepe, with V-neck and small kimono sleeves. The wide pants featured pockets inserted in the hips and a fabric belt inserted in the waist to be tied in a bow at the front.
The colors of wedding dresses spring 2021
In next spring’s wedding dresses there will be no shortage of shades of pink and delicate pastel tones, but we’re also seeing cooler shades of pistachio, dove, lavender, and sky blue in all forms, from full ball gowns to flirty frocks.
This passionate shade is perfect for the bravest brides, who love to dare and get noticed.
Red goes well with an elegant and not too excessive wedding dress or to illuminate the details and accessories of classic dresses with vaporous lines.
We have seen this shade in the spring 2021 bridal collections of Carlo Pignatelli, Hermione de Paula, Caroline Hayden.
Carlo Pignatelli has proposed a dress that seems to come out of a film of Visconti’s memory with satin bustier and princely skirt in soft tulle. All in the decidedly daring color ruby red.
The fabrics of wedding dresses spring 2021
In the spring 2021 bridal collections we have seen extensive use of:
- chiffon for the realization of empire or retro style wedding dresses and for multi-layered skirts;
- drap or cady, opaque, fluid and semi-crepe for wedding dresses with an elegant and discreet look.
- georgette for dresses with fluid, soft and essential lines;
- duchesse, taffetas for models with a sustained and sculptural cut;
- organza, light, thin and transparent for elegant and romantic dresses;
- lace and embroidery, chic and refined for dresses with soft and feminine shapes and volumes.
