Shop online our pure cotton or viscose muslin fabrics for dressmaking.
Muslin is a plain-woven fabric, very light and airy, made from fine, cotton or viscose yarns and is sure to impress with its fantastically soft drape and exceptional comfort.
Fresh and impalpable, muslin is perfect for summery and airy garments, like blouses and tunics, or, if used in several layers, also for dresses or skirts.
It is a fabric that has been produced since ancient times, its name is popularly believed to derive from Marco Polo's description of the cotton trade in Mosul, Iraq.
The open weave and lightweight of muslin allows for airflow, reducing the risk of overheating. Wearing it always makes us feel at ease, giving us a feeling of natural “cleanliness”, like a breath of wind.
Muslin has been used as a fashion fabric for a long time, and is enjoying a revival. It is also used for making test garments before more expensive fabric is used.
