Spring / Summer 2019 Colour Trends: Polka dot

The spring 2019 runways were full of polka dots in all colors and sizes.

The once old-fashioned spotty print has been given a makeover, thanks to street-style icons and designers using it in modern and clever ways.

At Milan Fashion Week a splendid Monica Bellucci wore a midi-dress with white maxi-pois by Dolce & Gabbana, for a look that enchants and recalls the allure of her character in the unforgettable film by Tornatore “Malena”.

Dolce & Gabbana also proposed a suit, jacket and trousers, dotted with polka dots, all white, on a contrasting black background in combination with an umbrella strictly polka dots surrounded by long fringes for an exuberant style and class.

Rejina Pyo showed a white and a brown spotty midi skirt, while Audra showed oversize white polka dots on blue, black and pink backgrounds, covering blouses, dresses and loose-fitting culottes.

We saw a lovely pair of pants in maxi red polka dot on a white background at Escada and a midi white polka dot on a beige background used for suite, loose pants paired with a white blouse, a retro-chic midi dress and a jacket paired with silk light green pants.

In Max Mara‘s 2019 spring/summer collection, polka dots gave a special touch to any outfit. Sober dark blue and brown polka dots were used for trench coats, overcoats, scarves, skirts and trousers.

Carolina Herrera featured the classic black and white polka dots on romantic dresses with maxi polka dots for a preppy and trendy style.
